Golf Australia has committed to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter that aims to enable more women and girls to maximise their potential at all levels of the sport. Golf Australia is now encouraging Australian golf clubs and facilities to become signatories of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter, publicly stating their commitment to improving the sport for women & girls.
Some of the benefits of becoming a signatory of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter include:
Receiving a Signatory decal that can be placed at your club to showcase your support and commitment of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter.
Receive a digital suite of marketing tools that can be used for your own website and advertising.
Ability to be nominated for Golf Australia programs such as Visionary of the Year and the Australian Golf Foundation Junior Girl’s Scholarship program funding.
Recognition of your commitments on both the R&A website and Golf Australia website – with potential to have your club/facility highlighted through video case studies.
If you are interested in becoming a Women in Golf Charter signatory club, please submit an expression of interest form here. From there we will arrange a brief meeting with your local Golf Australia Regional Development Officer or Clubs and Facilities Support Manager, and the Female Engagement Team.
Golf Australia has a range of resources to assist clubs in making their commitment to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter. The most pivotal of the resources is Sport Australia’s ‘Game Plan’ tool, accessed from the Club & Facility Support portal. The ‘Game Plan’ tool, which a module focused on the growth of women in golf, will help a club identify areas of the club in which it already excels, and areas for improvement, ultimately assisting in the development of an action plan for your organisation.
Let’s all work together to get more girls and women both playing and working in golf! For any questions, please contact womeningolfcharter@golf.org.au.

FAQs
How do I become a signatory of the R&A Women in Golf Charter? If you are interested in becoming a Women in Golf Charter signatory club, please reach out to us via womeningolfcharter@golf.org.au. From there we will arrange a brief meeting with your local Golf Australia Regional Development Officer or Clubs and Facilities Support Manager, and the Female Engagement Team.
How many items do I need on my action plan? Once you complete Sport Australia’s Gameplan assessment tool, your local Golf Australia Regional Development Officer or Clubs and Facilities Support Manager will assist you in developing an action plan and help the club to identify actions that your club would like to undertake. The number of actions within the plan are driven by the capacity and needs of the club.
Once my club becomes a signatory of the R&A what’s next? Clubs who become signatories will then work through their commitments for the next 12 months until they are re-assessed using the Women in Golf Module again.
Are there any benefits of a Golf Club becoming an R&A Signatory Club? Yes. The R&A have provided their endorsement for Australian golf clubs/facilities, and you will be highlighted as a signatory club on the R&A website. The R&A also have a list of resources that clubs can access for becoming a signatory.
What happens if our club needs assistance with our commitments? Golf Australia’s CFS/RDO staff will be your point of contact and they will work to support your club/facility where they can. We understand that there will be a variance of support across states/territories however, our staff will assist where they are able to.
Our club is already doing most of these actions anyway, what’s the point of signing up if we are already doing this? If your club is already completing these actions, let’s get your club/facility get recognised for these actions and become endorsed by the R&A and Golf Australia. It is also great to complete this Women in Golf Module as part of your clubs Gameplan requirements.
