Primary & Secondary

Each of the districts currently have a varied selection process for both primary and secondary divisions. Some regions hold trial days while others are required to select based off the player’s handicaps because of the vast area that the region covers. Qualifiers will progress to a 54-hole state final for primary and a 72-hole state final for Secondary.

South Australian 12 & Under Primary School Golf Event - for Boys and Girls

This event is a Statewide program offered through 8 regional and 8 metropolitan qualifying zones with 22 events which allows up to 9 students from each zone who have played in a qualifier to attend the two-day state final, with one round played each day.

Qualifying events are held over 9 holes on a modified course and the State Final is played over 15 holes on an intermediate course.

At the State Final a Sapsasa State Team is selected for the School Sport Australia National Carnival.

Eligibility, Boys & Girls aged 10 to 12 years at the 31 Dec in the year of event, students may either be attending a Primary or Secondary School.

South Australian Secondary School Golf - for boys and girls

Secondary Schools team Stableford event, usually played in first term.

Secondary School Individual State Championship, usually played in second term of each year with A B and C grade component.

South Australian 14 & U and 16 & U State Event, usually played late in second term of each year. This event caters for all abilities, it is a one round event.

In 2024, Golf Australia is excited to introduce an expanded array of "school experiences” hosted at local courses and facilities across Victoria. These experiences are designed to offer both new and existing young golfers a chance to learn our game in a fun, game-based and exciting way, moving away from the traditional stroke play tournaments. Our aim is to make golf more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, serving as an inviting introduction to the sport. This initiative aligns with our strategy to increase participation and encourage more Australians to play more golf and we believe this approach will not only foster a love for the game among our youth but also contribute to the growth of golf in Australia. SSV Primary & Secondary State Teams 

In 2024, teams will be selected via the Golf Victoria Junior Order of Merit (OOM) alongside SSV’s capability to select a set number of players, given special circumstances. Points earned in Golf Victoria's Junior OOM events between Thursday 01 February, 2024 to Friday 05 July, 2024 will be used to determine team selection. Selection is dependent upon meeting the criteria listed in the Trial Information and Selection Guidelines. School Sport Victoria enters boy’s and girl’s representative teams in each of the following School Sport Australia Championships: 

• 12 Years and Under  

• 18 Years and Under
