It is with much sadness that we advise of the passing of Kevin Hartley.

Hartley was one of Australia’s finest amateur golfers and won the 1958 Australian Amateur Championship and the 1969 Victorian Amateur Championship.

He also represented Australia in four Eisenhower Cups from 1964-1970, won the Ivo Whitton Trophy for scoring averages an unprecedented 12 times and the Riversdale Cup 10 times.

Hartley was given “Legend” status as a result of selection in the Victorian Team of the 20th century – a team of six amateurs and six professionals, and was inducted into the Victorian Hall of Fame in 2013.

Known as ‘The Dart’ for his accuracy on the course, he came to prominence in 1950 when he won Victorian Boys’ Championship at Medway (Victoria), his home course. He played with the greats of his era including Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.

He was also involved in course design having worked on clubs such as Curlewis and Commonwealth in Victoria.
